My infatuation with Bruce the Shark has spanned my entire life which now closes in on nearly 50 years. I say without a hint of any exaggeration that every single homework assignment, every test, every classwork paper, one high school semester's Science Research project and almost everything my hands have ever touched has some form of Bruce the Shark artwork or doodle somewhere on it: if even simply hidden on the backside. I am guilty of creating tens of, and perhaps hundreds of thousands of doodles, sketches, fine drawings, charcoals, air and brush paintings, physical models, and even digital models of Bruce the Shark which crowd every inch of my personal office, my art studio, 2 workshops and an entire building storing our molds for the last 3 decades. That's a lot of sharks!
We are all into sharks one way or another. We are all curious and amazed by them and we are all fans and collectors somehow. Of course my obsession looks to be more extreme than some. But this is only because my family and I have worked exhaustively to find ways to share our love of sharks, and Bruce the shark particularly, with others in a way that profits everyone. Of the many hundreds of well finished Bruce the Shark art pieces I have made these last 4 decades, Cathy and I have decided to begin sharing them with this simple color sketch. I believe it triggers memory flashes from several scenes from the film quite well. I intend for it to be just the proper balance between murky abstract and life-like detail. For those that appreciate this there will be more added to the collection once digitally sampled and cleaned up. ENJOY!
